Carers Day 2023: Honouring Unpaid Caregivers
On this auspicious occasion of Carers Day 2023, we join hands with Carers Worldwide in paying tribute to the tireless efforts of unpaid caregivers in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. This momentous day serves as a platform to unite local charity partners, the dedicated carers they support, and their respective communities, with the aim of raising awareness about the challenges faced by these unsung heroes. Last year, more than 10,000 individuals came together to commemorate this important day.
This year’s theme for Carers Day is “Let’s Recognise and Support Carers.” These caregivers play an indispensable role in our society, dedicating their time and energy to care for their loved ones in need.
The CareTech Foundation is thrilled to announce the presence of its CEO, Jonathan Freeman MBE, in Bangladesh for the International Day of Carers event in Dhaka. This event was attended by more than 600 carers who have received support from Carers Worldwide partners, specifically the Centre for Disability in Development (CDD), through a program co-funded by the CareTech Foundation. In addition to carers, the event served as a platform for various charitable organizations working with individuals with disabilities and senior government officials.
The event also marked the official launch of the Carers Alliance Bangladesh, a significant milestone in the program supported by the CareTech Foundation. This initiative brings together a diverse group of key stakeholders to advocate for change and enhance support for carers. A remarkable highlight of the event was a personal donation pledge of approximately £40,000 from one of the key speakers, underscoring how funding is mobilizing financial support within the country to ensure the long-term sustainability of the program.
