Accelerating Skills Development for People That Live and Work in the Social Care Sector

Vision Friends Learning Disabilities

The CareTech Foundation has partnered with RNIB to work together to ensure that no one with complex needs in a care setting is missing out on basic eye care due to their additional needs and conditions. The project will review the existing Vision Friends project and work with CareTech staff to develop and roll out the project across the social care sector. 
This year, 270 facilitators have been trained, including 77 members of CareTech staff. Resources and education framework are due to be completed in November 2022 for the wider rollout to increase the confidence and skill of those supporting adults with learning disabilities and sight loss.
